Old School RuneScape is a vast and captivating world filled with diverse activities and quests, and one of the most enchanting experiences it offers is shooting stars. Shooting stars are celestial phenomena that grace the OSRS sky, bringing with them the promise of valuable stardust and experience points for those who embark on the celestial hunt. In this guide, we will delve into the mesmerizing world of shooting stars in OSRS, covering everything from their appearance to the strategies required to harvest their precious rewards.

The Enigmatic Arrival of Shooting Stars

Shooting stars appear randomly across the skies of Gielinor, and they offer players a unique opportunity to gather stardust, a valuable resource used in crafting and enhancing a wide array of magical and practical items. These stars can be spotted every two hours, and their arrival is signaled by a message in the chatbox. To embark on your shooting star adventure, you must have a Mining level of at least 10.

Locating Stars

Once you receive the notification of a shooting star’s arrival, you must locate it quickly to maximize your rewards. To do this, equip a telescope and follow the arrow on your minimap, which will guide you towards the star’s location. As you draw closer, the arrow will become more accurate, helping you pinpoint the exact spot where the star has fallen.

Mining Stars

Upon reaching the fallen star, you’ll find it encased in a rocky shell. To access the stardust within, you’ll need a chisel and a Mining level that meets the star’s requirements. Each star has a different Mining level requirement, ranging from 10 to 95. The higher your Mining level, the more stardust you can extract from the star.

Harvesting stardust is a team effort, as multiple players can chip away at the same star. However, be cautious about players with malicious intent; they may try to steal your stardust or disrupt your mining efforts. It’s advisable to mine with a group of friends or in a populated world for safety.

Experience and Rewards

Mining shooting stars not only provides stardust but also grants Mining experience points based on the amount of stardust collected. Additionally, when a star is completely mined, it explodes, rewarding players with a bonus amount of stardust and experience. This is the ideal time to make the most of your effort and ensure you collect as much stardust as possible.

Using Stardust

Stardust is a valuable resource in OSRS and can be used for various purposes. One of the most popular uses is to purchase pieces of the ‘Starfall’ outfit, which provides a Mining experience boost when worn. Stardust can also be traded for cosmic runes or stored for future use in crafting powerful jewelry and other magical items.
