Gear Setup

osrs melee gear
  • Weapon: A Dragon Hunter Crossbow with Dragon bolts (any) or a powerful melee weapon, such as the Ghrazi rapier or the Abyssal Tentacle, can be effective. Melee combat requires protection prayers.
  • Armor: Wear strong melee or ranged armor, such as Bandos, Karil’s Crossbow, or Armadyl, depending on your combat style. For melee combat, use Proselyte armor if you want to use prayer extensively.
  • Prayer: Protect from Melee is essential for melee combat, as Mithril Dragons use all three combat styles (Melee, Ranged, and Magic). If using ranged or melee, it’s important to protect from Melee to reduce their damage.
  • Food and Healing: Bring ample high-level food like sharks, Saradomin brews, or anglerfish.
  • Antifire Protection: Mithril Dragons use dragonfire attacks, so it’s essential to have some form of antifire protection. This can include Dragonfire shields, Extended antifire potions, or super antifire potions.
  • Ranging or Melee Protection: If you’re using the ranged or melee method, protection prayers (Protect from Melee or Protect from Missiles) can help reduce incoming damage.

Location:

Mithril Dragons can be found in the Ancient Cavern, which is accessible via the whirlpool on Waterbirth Island. You will need to start the “Barbarian Training” miniquest and have a dusty key to access the area.

Killing Mithril Dragons:

  1. Travel to the Ancient Cavern on Waterbirth Island and make your way to the Mithril Dragon area.
  2. Select your combat style (ranged or melee) and use the appropriate protection prayer (Protect from Melee or Protect from Missiles) if you’re not using the Dragonfire shield.
  3. Attack the Mithril Dragons while keeping an eye on your health and prayer points.
  4. Pay attention to their special attack: Mithril Dragons can disable your protection prayers temporarily, so be prepared to re-activate them.
  5. Use high-level food, Saradomin brews, or anglerfish to heal when necessary.
  6. Loot their drops, which can include dragon bones, chewed bones, dragon platelegs, and the Dragon full helm.

Mithril Dragon Drops:

Mithril Dragons have several valuable drops, including:

  • Dragon bones (for Prayer experience)
  • Chewed bones (used to unlock the Ancient Caverns altar)
  • Dragon platelegs
  • Dragon full helm (rare and valuable)

Additional Tips:

  • For ranged combat, using the Dragon Hunter Crossbow and Dragon bolts (any) is recommended.
  • Protect from Melee is the most effective prayer to reduce incoming damage.
  • Be prepared for the dragonfire attack with antifire protection.
  • Bring emergency teleport items in case you need to escape from danger.

Killing Mithril Dragons can be profitable, especially if you receive the Dragon full helm drop. However, they are relatively tough enemies, so it’s important to be well-prepared and cautious during the fight.
