The Cook’s Assistant quest was actually the first quest to ever be released in Runescape. Players must assist the Lumbridge Castle Cook in making a birthday cake for Duke Horacio.

These recommended items will allow you to skip the majority of the quest.

Guide to complete Cooks Assistant

Speak to the Cook on the Lumbridge Castle ground floor to start your quest. He will request that you bring him an egg, bucket of milk and a pot of flour to help bake a birthday cake for Duke Horacio.

If you already have these items in your inventory then you can speak to the Cook. Telling him that you have the items and completing the quest in seconds. If you do not have the items and can not purchase them from the Grand Exchange (ironmen) then you will need to collect them.

Bucket of Milk

Take an empty bucket and go to the cow pen north-east of the castle. Use the empty bucket on the dairy cow to get a bucket of milk.

Egg

Go to the chicken coop which is west of the cow pen with the dairy cow. Collect one of the eggs there.

Pot of Flour

With an empty pot, enter the Lumbridge wheat field. Pick up a grain then go to the Mill north of Lumbridge Castle. Climb to the top floor and place the grain in the hopper and pull the lever. Climb to the ground floor again and collect a pot of flour with your empty pot.

Quest Rewards

After full completion of this quest, you will receive 1 quest point, 300 cooking experience and permission to use the cooking range in lumbridge castle. This range will reduce the chance of burning food when used.
