Old School RuneScape is renowned for its challenging monsters and bosses, and the Cave Kraken is no exception. Situated in the Kraken Cove, this formidable sea creature provides adventurers with a rewarding and thrilling combat encounter.
Locations
The Cave Kraken resides in the Kraken Cove, which is accessible through a small cave entrance north of the Piscatoris Fishing Colony.
Gear Setup
Requirements:
- Combat Stats: It’s recommended to have at least 87 Slayer and high Ranged or Magic levels for effective killing.
- Gear: You’ll need Ranged or Magic gear with good offensive and defensive bonuses. Mystic robes, Void Knight equipment, or Karil’s crossbow with Karil’s crossbow bolt racks are suitable choices.
- Weapon: For Magic, use Trident of the Seas or Swamp. For Ranged, a Blowpipe with toxic darts or a crossbow with broad bolts works well.
- Food: Bring high-healing food like sharks, Saradomin brews, or similar.
- Teleportation: It’s a good idea to bring an Amulet of Glory or other teleportation methods to escape quickly if needed.
Combat Strategy:
- Protect from Missiles or Protect from Magic: The Cave Kraken uses both Magic and Ranged attacks. Depending on your chosen combat style (Magic or Ranged), activate the corresponding protection prayer (Protect from Missiles or Protect from Magic).
- Killing the Cave Krakens:
- Attack the Cave Kraken with your chosen combat style. When you damage it enough, it will retreat into the water, and four small, passive Spawn will appear.
- Kill the Spawn to lure the Cave Kraken back out. If you don’t kill the Spawn, the Cave Kraken won’t come back.
- Continue attacking and repeating this process.
- Special Attack: The Cave Kraken has a special attack where it pulls you towards it if you’re far away. Be prepared to move back in place.
Drops and Rewards:
- Cave Krakens have several valuable drops, including the Trident of the Seas, Kraken tentacle, and various Runes.
- The unique item, the Trident of the Seas, is a popular drop. It’s a Magic staff that doesn’t require runes to cast spells.
- Kraken tentacles can be used to charge the Trident of the Seas.
- You may also receive the Pet Kraken, a boss pet.
Tips:
- Using Magic with the Trident of the Seas is the most common method for killing Cave Krakens.
- Bringing an Eternal Amulet of Glory with unlimited teleports to the Piscatoris Fishing Colony is very convenient for quick banking and healing.
- You can use fairy rings to reach the Kraken Cove quickly.
- Be aware of your health and prayer points, and use the pool of water in the Kraken Cove for healing and prayer restoration.
