How to Earn OSRS Gold Through PKing

make money pking osrs

OSRS gold makes the world of Oldschool Runescape go around. With it, you will be able to do much. As such, a lot of time when you start OSRS will revolve around figuring out the best moneymaking methods.

That’s some nice loot you got there. Mind if I take it?

One iconic OSRS pastime is well-known for being one of the best ways to amass OSRS GP fairly quickly: PKing. The timeless art of slaughtering your fellow player for everything they have in their inventory. But PKing isn’t for everyone. It takes a lot of time to set up a good PKing account and a lot of skills to master. Prayer switches, weapon switches, surviving teams, etc. While you can make a lot of GP PKing, you can lose a lot of GP.

But once you get settled into the PKing habit, it’s a habit that will die hard. There’s something supremely satisfying about PKing, and the profit is swell too. People have even made specific pking builds for their accounts over the years. Today, I’ll be going over five of the best ways to make lots of OSRS Gold via PKing.

Chaos Temple

There is tons of PKing potential at the Chaos Temple. You’ve got players here using the altar for Prayer training; some are bots, and some are actual players. Neither will be able to put up much of a fight save for those with a Dinh’s bulwark. That makes this ideal for more inexperienced PKers.

Then there are other PKers. You can spend as much time anti-PKing other PKers as you are killing people using the altar. They will be harder to take down than people using the altar, so you need to bring your A-game. Risk will vary, but generally speaking, PKers who hunt here tend to have valuable gear consistently.

But the Chaos Temple isn’t all GP and Armadyl godswords. You might get lucky and kill someone with 1-2 mil GP worth of superior dragon bones. But you can just as quickly kill someone who made it through their stack of bones before you got there, and you get nothing. Or you get the occasional oddball burying big bones.

While there are plenty of single-combat tiles outside the Chaos Temple, the Chaos Temple is multi-combat. Teams will sometimes drop in here, and a team member almost always camps outside the door to prevent prey from leaving multi. Unless you are an elite PKer with top-tier gear, getting trapped inside the Temple usually means death.

Despite the downsides, PKing at the Chaos Temple can be very profitable.

Chaos Temple: Elder Chaos Druid PvMers

Our second spot is yet another Chaos Temple. Only this time, it’s the one in level 13 Wilderness.

Like the other Chaos Temple, this is a multi-combat area. You rarely run into teams here, though. Focus your attention on the players killing Elder Chaos Druids.

Since there’s a Chaos Altar here and they can use Protect from Magic permanently, many PVMers will bring less food to have more space for loot. Many will also opt for 3-4 item setups to minimize losses if they run into PKers. That makes them extremely easy targets.

If they risk little, how is this an excellent spot for PKing? Two things. Number 1, the Elder Chaos Druids’ drops. Even if they keep their equipment, they’ll lose all their loot when they die. And players are only picking up the excellent loot from Elder Chaos Druids, so you can quickly amass a ton of gold via grimy herb drops. Even better if you snipe a PVMer who was lucky enough to get an Elder Chaos Druid robe piece.

The second reason hunting PVMers at the Elder Chaos Druids is solid is the Viggora’s chainmace. It is the ideal weapon for someone using a 3-4 item setup. While you won’t be looting too many chainmaces, you can still make a hefty profit off the revenant ether players will drop after they die.

Risk Fights

Risk fights are much more brutal to find after the removal of Duel Arena. But they’re still around and can still be very lucrative.

There needs to be more to explain with this one. If you’re confident in your PKing skills, find some folks willing to do some risk fights, and have at it. The Grand Exchange on PKing worlds is a great place to fight risk fights (And PK in general).

While some risk fighters will play it safe and only risk 500K, you’ll mostly be able to stay above a mil GP risk most of the time. And if you manage to find someone willing to risk 10, 20 mil GP and win that fight, then you’ve got it made.

Bot Busting

If you’ve ever watched a SirPugger video, you know just how profitable bot busting can be. I’m talking potentially millions of GP per hour for little effort and risk. But out of all the options on this list, bot busting may be the trickiest to pull off.

For starters, you need to find a bot farm. Then, you need to understand how the bot’s scripting works so you can exploit it and prevent the bots from teleporting (Many bots will teleport immediately if anyone with a skull is near them).

It also pays to find less common bot farms. You can still profit from killing bots at the usual bot spots like green dragons and black chinchompas. But the most profitable bot farms tend to be the more obscure ones.

It also pays to have a mid-level PKing account when bot busting. A maxed-out PKing account will often be too high-level to touch some of these bots. A mid-level account with access to Ancient Magicks is ideal.

Revenant Caves

My number one PKing recommendation in runescape shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. The Revenant Caves have always been PKer heaven. After a few updates, namely the Halloween 2020 update, the Revenant Caves are better than ever.

You have a lot of options here. You can kill players killing revenants, or you can kill bots killing revenants. You can also anti-PK fellow PKers. For years, the Revenant Caves were multi-combat. PKing clans would routinely pour in and wipe out everyone in sight. The Revenant Caves are now singles-plus combat, making it safer for everyone. Few things felt worse than scoring some kills and some nice loot and immediately losing it all to a team.

Since the Revenant Caves are the number 1 PKer hotspot in the game, expect enemy PKers here to know their stuff. The Revenant Caves are not the place to be if you’re an inexperienced PKer. But if you’re a seasoned PKer, the profitability is sky-high, and the fights are a lot of fun.

Conclusion

PKing takes a lot of time and effort to master, but the payoff is worth it. It gives you access to one of the better and more enjoyable moneymaking methods in OSRS. It sure beats fishing karambwans for hours on end.

So! Don’t get discouraged. Keep at it with your OSRS accounts for sale, and you’ll swim in OSRS gold. Not that you can swim in gold coins, but you get what I mean.
