Cave bugs are low-level creatures that can be found in various caves and dungeons across Gielinor. They come in four different varieties: the regular Cave Bug, the Kalphite Tunneler, the Giant Mole’s offspring known as the Baby Mole, and the Lobstrosity. Each of these cave bugs has its unique characteristics, and players can engage with them in different ways.
Cave Bug Gear Setup
Cave Bugs are very low-level monsters and don’t pose much of a threat. Here’s what you can use for hunting Cave Bugs:
- Weapon: A melee weapon, such as a bronze or iron weapon.
- Armor: Low-level armor, such as bronze or iron, is sufficient.
- Food: You can bring a few food items, but they are not usually necessary for killing Cave Bugs.
Location:
Cave Bugs can be found in several locations in OSRS, including:
- Lumbridge Swamp Caves: These caves are located in the Lumbridge Swamp and are the most commonly used spot for killing Cave Bugs.
- Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon: You can also find Cave Bugs in the Dorgesh-Kaan South Dungeon, which requires completing the “Death to the Dorgeshuun” quest to access.
Killing Cave Bugs:
- Locate a cave with Cave Bugs.
- Attack them using your chosen weapon. Cave Bugs have low Hitpoints and should be easy to defeat.
- Collect any drops, which can include bones, cave bug shells, and more.
Cave Bug Drops:
Cave Bugs typically drop items such as:
- Bones (used for Prayer experience)
- Cave Bug Shells (used to make Splitbark armor, requires level 45 Magic and level 55 Crafting)
- Various low-value items
Additional Tips:
- Cave Bugs do not drop valuable items, so they are primarily hunted for the experience and crafting materials.
- If you’re a low-level player, it’s a good idea to bring some food, although it’s usually not necessary due to the low combat level of Cave Bugs.
Cave Bugs are not a significant source of experience or profit in OSRS, so players often move on to other training or money-making methods as they progress. However, they can be a suitable source of early-game experience and crafting materials for lower-level players.
